The cabins are built with Indiana native poplar logs. With the support of The Farmers Bank in Frankfort, the first cabin opened Memorial Day weekend 2002, and the second cabin opened in November 2002. They figured there had to be others who would enjoy getting away to a peaceful natural setting occasionally and tried to think of a way they could both preserve a small slice of nature for themselves and allow others to enjoy it as well. Living in Indianapolis at the time, they quickly discovered that any property in central Indiana that had natural beauty and character was being consumed for subdivision development or private estates. The initial idea for Cabins & Candlelight originated in 1998 when Chuck and Rhonda Smith first started searching for property on which to build a home. We generally do not make substitutions and expect guests to bring anything they would like that we don’t routinely furnish. CABINS AND CANDLELIGHT FREEIf there is a type of food for which you have particular brand preferences, please feel free to check with us to see what we provide. We understand that food preferences are very subjective, however. ![]() This is true for our dinner packages as well. It’s also food we feel comfortable serving to our family. ![]() Some, but not all of the foods are name brand, but we feel everything we offer is high quality, and as good or better than many brand-name products. Please note that we are not big enough to warrant a health-department-approved kitchen, so all of our foods are pre-packaged. The exact items that will be provided for your stay will be detailed in your confirmation upon making a reservation. There will also be a wide variety of condiments, spices, and supplies in the cabin, so you don’t have to bring those things with you. These vary from time to time, but generally include things like eggs, sausages, English Muffins, cinnamon rolls, danishes, pancake mix with syrup, cereal, coffee, milk, and orange juice. There will be a large variety of breakfast foods in your cabin when you arrive, ready for you to prepare when and as you would like, all at no additional charge. Please notify us at least one week prior to your reservation if you would like to purchase these options. The steak dinner for two is $25, and the chicken dinner is $20.
